I believe in art and design education for the associated disciplines, but also as a pathway to broadly applicable skills. My courses at Guilford College emphasize building creative “tool kits”, tactics for approaching ambiguous challenges, collaboration, indeterminacy, and problem solving. I teach critique method and observation as art/design skills, but also as a pathway to clearer and more skillful engagement with reality in general.
